Kindred Dragons Volume 1 GN – Abrams Fanfare releases a cozy middle-grade graphic novel. Alice, a fanciful girl who is prone to telling tall tales and obsessed with dragons, is sent to Prince Edward Island to live with her strict grandmother by her parents. Alice doesn’t want to be there. She wants the fairies to come and deliver a dragon egg to her so she can become a Kindred and care for it, but no egg has ever arrived. While wandering in the woods, she comes across a mysterious old dragon named Brim. Alice secretly befriends him, excited to finally have a dragon friend of her own. But when Brim suddenly falls ill, she must set out on a desperate quest to save him. Her search for a cure leads her to discover her connection to dragons is unlike that of any other Kindred. She must hope her new power will be enough to save her friend. Readers will love this blend of Anne of Green Gables with How to Train Your Dragon.

Agent Cupcake GN – Oni Press releases a new graphic novel set in a candy-colored world of mystical beasts and undercover agents. Twelve-year-old Miguel Mangayayam has always loved mystical beasts, so when he’s hired to be the first human spy at the Mystical Beasts Bureau, he’s thrilled! He’s partnered with the supercool unicorn superspy Agent Cupcake who trains him to gather intel, crack codes, and collect clues to solve the MMB’s toughest mysteries. But the duo will need to put their skills to the test when they receive reports of unicorns losing their magical powers, even if it means going up against a mega corporation like HOARD. This new title is perfect for fans of Mac B. Kid Spy and Spy School. [Check out our exclusive preview!—Ed]
